Bins will not be collected on a crucial day over the upcoming festive period.
Bolton Council has announced that no bin collections will take place on Monday December 26, Boxing Day, thanks to tipping facilities in the borough being closed.
This will be in effect just for Boxing Day, but for the rest of the week green bins and food caddies will not be collected.
A statement from Bolton Council said: “There are changes to bin collections in the week beginning 26 December 2022.
“No collections will take place on Monday December 26.
“Collections that would normally take place on this will be rearranged to a different day that week.
“Green bins or food caddies will not be collected on any day this week.”
It added: “We apologise for any inconvenience this change may cause.”
Bin collections will then go back to normal in the new year on the week beginning Monday January 2.
But this is likely to pose difficulties for people celebrating Christmas and New Year, when festivities are likely to produce an extra amount of waste.
To help deal with this, people have been advised to check Bolton Council’s website for revised collection dates under the ‘rubbish and recycling’ section.
These dates may differ for properties on the same street, so residents have been advised to check for their own home themselves.
