Walkers in the Rivington area may be taken aback by an apparent large scale emergency response.
It is likely that may people will spot a large group of people, search dogs, drones, and possibly a helicopter if they are close to the popular hiking spot today, Saturday November 19.
Their presence, however, need not cause any alarm, as it is merely for training purposes.
A spokesperson for Bolton Mountain Rescue Team said: "On Saturday the team will be running a large multi-agency training exercise at Rivington Terraced Gardens.
"It will involve over 100 people from 17 different teams and agencies. Search dogs, drones, and possibly a helicopter will be involved in the exercise.
"Challenging tasks will be undertaken by the participants including searching for a missing person and various medical scenarios.
"Thank you to United Utilities, Rivington Heritage Trust, and Rivington Hall Barn for their support."
