A luxury steakhouse’s plans to expand have been thrown out.
Beefalo Meat House in Bolton submitted proposals to convert the first floor and extend the maximum number of diners from 90 to 225.
But planning bosses rejected the plans stating that a proper traffic and transport survey has not been submitted by the steakhouse on additional parking.
Members of the public also objected to the plans citing noise and parking issues as the main concern.
But the restaurant said noise does not affect residents as there is no loud music and no alcohol licence.
Cllr John Walsh told a planning committee said: “I have known this site for over 30 years, and I do have concerns with parking.
“I think 225 as a number would be an overuse of that site due to the heavy traffic.”
Cllr Nick Peel and Cllr Mudasir Dean both called for a traffic report.
National Highways North West recommended the members approve the application as did planning officers but Cllr Walsh maintained that it would be refused as there was no indication where the rest of the parking would be.
But ward councillor for the area, Cllr Emily Mort was in favour of the plans.
She said: “There are a number of objections from residents but also positive enhancements to our community.
“They have brought the building back to use and are only required to be 50 metres away from housing and they are 150 metres away.
“There are also many other hospitality places nearby.”
Beefalo said they would appeal the decision. A spokesman said: “The building was not in use for two years and has been brought back to life, created jobs, occupied the vacant building, and we have celebrities visiting the restaurant, and this is the kind of things the council like.”
Beefalo offers a ‘golden burger’ for £45 and gold leaf covered steaks for £150. The swanky restaurant opened last year opposite Asda and is run by chef Yuce, who launched Macello Meathouse and Kassap Meathouse in Liverpool.
Footballers like Sadio Mane and Mo Salah having dined at the chain in the past.
