A bar and bistro in Westhoughton has reopened under new management.
Absolute Bar & Bistro have taken on chef Shaqueel Walton (also known as chef Raphh) who has worked in some of Manchester’s top restaurants, including Don Marco, and San Carlo.
He is joined chef Hayley Hill.
New manager John McGinlay now hopes to take the bar and restaurant to the next level, with its European style tapas menus.
He added: “Now we have got the food going and the bar going, we’re hoping we can build it back up again.
“It’s quite exciting because there isn’t anything like it around here.
“I hope we can bring something back to Westhoughton.”
John previously worked at the Waggon & Horses in Westhoughton and says he enjoys working in the hospitality industry.
He added: “I love meeting new people and I love that every day is different.”
John said that he wanted the bar to play a key part in the nightlife in Westhoughton.
John said: “We want to bring that relaxed and fun environment whilst people enjoy the variety of food on offer.
“The bar is nice and cosy and the food compliments that aspect too.”
He first came across the opportunity after being approached by owners Joe Fairhurst and Natalie O’Neil.
John said: “The owners are Westhoughton locals, and they have a couple of businesses.
“When they asked me about joining and helping with the relaunch, I couldn’t say no.”
Absolute Bar will be open from 3pm today (Friday November 18), and from 12pm on the weekend.
As part of the relaunch the kitchen has undergone a refurb, as well as a revamp inside as well.
The lunch and breakfast menus will also be relaunched next week, as well as a special sunday roast menu.
It will be open from Wednesday-Sunday from 9am next week.
