Bolton: Couple raise money in memory of daughter

Jodie and Ben Worsley first contacted Our Bolton NHS Charity in January 2020 to register their plans to complete the Yorkshire 3 Peaks, however due to the pandemic the challenge was postponed.

Just over two years later in May 2022, Jodie, Ben and sixty of their friends and family completed the challenge to raise over £9,000.

The couple have now decided to split the vital funds equally between Our Bolton NHS Charity and 4Louis, a UK charity that works across the country to support anyone affected by miscarriage, stillbirth and the death of a baby or child.

Jodie and Ben have also recently been invited to meet members of the maternity bereavement team at the Royal Bolton Hospital where they were presented with a certificate of appreciation from Our Bolton NHS Charity, in recognition of their fundraising efforts.

Jodie said: “Once we posted the event on social media, the support spiralled and donations started to flood in.

"The first peak felt good to climb but the second and third were more challenging, but Ben helped me get through them.

"When we reached the third peak, Ben set off a yellow flare in memory of Daisy, which was a nice touch.

“Raising the amount we did really made it worth the effort and we’re glad we came to visit the maternity unit today to see how the funds have been used."

Specialist Bereavement Midwife at Bolton NHS Foundation Trust, Helen Moore said: "It was wonderful to meet Jodie and Ben and show them how funds raised in Daisy’s memory have been used.

“Their support means we’ve been able to enhance the butterfly family rooms so other families who sadly experience a still birth have a peaceful space to spend time making precious memories with their baby."
