Goats stolen from a family were found with broken bones and their throats cut in an horrific act.

The owners of the pet goats have been left shocked and in disbelief at the cruel act.

Police say that an arrest has been made.

The Bolton News reported the goats were stolen and Emma  McLeod's family who live in Stoneclough made a plea to find them.

The first appeal was put out by in August when Dora the goat went missing August but was returned after being seen in a field.

Andd then in October she went missing with Nutmeg.

Their remains were found recently in Moses Gate Country Park by a dog walker.

Emma’s sister, Amy Mason, she said the family was shocked and distraught by the news.

The Bolton News:

She said: “We were all heartbroken as a family as they were found with broken bones and cut throats.

“Neighbours and friends helped to go out looking for them when they went missing and it was just shocking that someone was capable of doing something so sickening.

“We didn’t think we would find them like that.”

The goats will be missed by the family including by Emma’s two children, Mollie and Ralphy.

Amy said: “The goats are like family pets, like a cat or dog would be.

“They’re part of the family too and we all miss them and feel very sad about this, it’s disgusting and I don’t know what goes through someone’s mind to do something like this."

Since then, the family have bought another goat.

The perpetrator was caught on camera the first time and the second time was seen by the family but it was too late to save the goats.

Initially, when Dora went missing, Amy was looking after them.

She said at the time: “I’d gone to muck them out this morning – they have three goats – and there was one missing at 9am.

“I checked the CCTV, and at 2am there was footage of someone struggling to take a goat, but they got it.

Greater Manchester Police said an arrest had been made and we are expecting further details regarding the investigation

“You couldn’t really see; they had a hooded jacket on.”
