A two-car crash happened at a Bolton junction yesterday, Sunday, which has been the scene of a number of recent crashes.

The collision happened at the junction of Blackburn Road, Moss Bank Way and Crompton Way in Astley Bridge at around 3.20pm.

The incident follows a spate of crashes in the area amid roadworks at the junction.

One woman suffered minor injuries.

No arrests have been made in relation to the crash.

A Greater Manchester Police spokesperson said: “At approximately 3.20pm yesterday, Sunday, officers were called to reports of a two vehicle road traffic collision outside the Asda Stores on Blackburn Road in Bolton.

“One woman suffered minor injuries and the ambulance services attended as a precaution.

“No arrests were made.”

A Bolton resident witnessed the aftermath of the crash when she drove through the junction at around 4pm.

She said: “From what I saw when I drove past there were two cars involved, everyone seemed okay as adults and one child were stood on the side of the road and police were moving traffic.

“Debris was on the floor by the traffic lights, (it’s) possible (the) cars had collided bumper to side as one of the cars had their left front tyre twisted and dented, the other car could be seen to have the bumper hanging off.”

She also said how police, ambulance and fire services had been present, and that the lane heading onto Moss Bank Way had been closed.
