Plans to create a new trolley park have been put forward as a major retailer returns to Bolton.
Wickes returned to Trinity Street last month with a new look.
And plans have now been put to Bolton Council for a new trolley park, new bollards and new features to the show room - but customers have been reassured they won’t need to worry about parking spaces.
Cllr Debbie Newall, who sits on the planning committee, said: “With car parking in stores and things like that they actually have to have enough space that is proporianate to the size of the shop.
“The stops companies from taking up too much space from where people need to park so there are rules that restrict what can be done with car parks.”
She added: “If they’re rejigging the car park then that will be something that will be included in the application and which the planning department will look at.”
The new plans put to Bolton Council will prove to be particularly significant to the showroom and will feature additional security shutters to the windows, and fence and delivery gates to the rear of the service yard.
If approved, the plans will mark a step forward for the major retailer which returned to the centre of Bolton in October after having closed down earlier.
The newly reopened store already aims to cater to an increase in online shopping, which has soared since the onset of the pandemic nearly three years ago with a Click & Collect area.
The branch also features a Park and Collect for customers along with a space to assist home deliveries from online and instore orders.

Speaking on the opening of the new branch, store manager Neil Davies said: “We’re delighted to be opening a new store in Bolton which we are sure will delight customers, particularly with our high-end showrooms and our dedicated service areas.
“We look forward to hearing shopper feedback soon!”
The plans for the trolley park, bollards and show room features were put to Bolton Council on Monday October 24 and will be open for consultations until November 15.
