Police who were in attendance disposed of the item swiftly.
A police spokesperson confirmed they had been in attendance on Tuesday afternoon.
They said: "At approximately 3pm on November 1 officers were called to reports of an unaccompanied suspected weapon found in a public toilet at Royal Bolton Hospital.
"This was later found to be a plastic BB gun which was disposed of by attending officers."
