A road in Bolton is so bad that it has been renamed  Pothole Road.

And someone has even created a sign which has been placed over the road name, Regent Road in Lostock.

Councillors say that they are aware of the road's condition and it will be repaired, but patience is needed.

The road is one of the most exclusive in Bolton with houses selling for more than half-a-million pounds.

Heaton and Lostock ward councillor Andy Morgan said: “As councillors, we put these issues to highways and then they come to assess each one and prioritise. So, all we can do is highlight them.

“Potholes are a problem at either end of the road. We’re fully aware of it.

“It’s one that I have highlighted but it’s one of many.

“We’ve recently been allocated £50,000 in each ward for highways.

“We will do the best we can with what we’ve got.”

Cllr Morgan added that it can be a case of “be careful what you wish for”.

“Junction Road was recently retarmacked and people now drive on that at great speed. It’s used like a racetrack,” he said.

The Bolton News asked residents, ‘what is the worst road to drive on in Bolton?’

One resident said: “It’s not enough that they’ve been doing work at Asda lights for months, they’ve now started doing work further up the road which makes it one lane.

“Why can’t they finish one job before they start another?”

Another said: “All of Chorley New Road Horwich to Victoria Road is bumper to bumper and the roads a disgrace with all the potholes everywhere.”

“Tonge Moor Road, Blackburn Road, Halliwell Road, Derby Street, St Helens Road, Wigan Road,” a further resident said. “In fact, might as well just say all of them. They all need fixing.”
