Users of Facebook Messenger have been reporting an issue with their service this evening.

Reports began to rise on Down Detector, a website used for reporting online outages, at around 5:30pm.

Is messenger down?

Users rushed to social media to share their issues and find out of others are facing outages.

The hashtag #messengerdown has been frequently used by many.

One user wrote: "Facebook Messenger are you ok? #messengerdown"

Another said: "Anyone else’s Facebook messenger down?" gaining hundreds of likes and many replies sharing similar issues, suggesting a wide spread issue.

The issue appears to be in relation to messages delivering, with 75% of Down Detector reports suggesting this.

Meta, the owners of Facebook have not yet confirmed any issue with the service.
