Urban Outreach has received a donation from a car dealership.
Swansway Motor Group, which runs Honda Bolton and Motor Match Bolton, handed over £1,000 to the charity, which has seen an increase in demand for food, which is expected to increase as cost of living rises.
The motor group works with charity partners in the areas local to where they do business with the aim to support families and children who are in need, along with those who have been impacted by the cost-of-living crisis.
Swansway’s most recent campaign has seen them reach out to foodbanks across the country to make a combined donation of food items and monetary support.
Urban Outreach was founded by Dave and Chris Bagley in 1990.
Urban Outreach Bolton started as a charity providing short-term accommodation for young people with nowhere to stay.
In the late 90s, the charity expanded to launch an overnight winter café called ‘Winter Watch’, this provided hot food, shelter and a place and warmth and friendship for the homeless.
Now, Urban Outreach Bolton delivers a range of services, including food and cold weather provisions such as their Storehouse Foodbank.
A spokesman from Urban Outreach Bolton said: “We are so grateful to Swansway Motor Group for this generous donation which will help us buy much-needed supplies for our food parcels.
" Over the pandemic, we saw a huge increase in demand which slowed down as restrictions eased.
"With the cost of living crisis hitting so many people across Bolton, we are already seeing an increase in demand for immediate food support. We are anticipating this to increase as the weeks go by over winter. We couldn’t do what we do without the generosity of so many. Thank you so much for being a part of supporting people in Bolton.”
Swansway Motor Group Director David Smyth said: “As part of our ongoing charity efforts, it’s crucial to us all at Swansway Motor Group that we do our best to support families in need. Our hope that this donation can play a part in easing some of the uncertainty the coming months may bring to local families and provide a helping hand to the fantastic organisations who provide this service.”
