This photo was taken in July 1979 as Bolton’s newest wine bar opened.
Corks, on Bradshawgate, was said to be “one of the most luxurious establishments of its kind in the North West” with around £150,000 having been spent on transforming former bank premises opposite Ships Gate into an upmarket wine bar - complete with mirror balls hanging from the ceiling.
Corks was a fixture in town until 1997 when it became O’Neill’s, an Irish-themed bar.
Do you remember Corks? If you had a night out there or even some photos we’d love to share them with Looking Back readers. Email robert.kelly@nqnw.co.uk or leave your comments
