Bolton Mountain Rescue Team (BMRT) took part in specialist training with Coastguard helicopters.
Over the weeken, 11 members of BMRT travelled to Humberside for the training with His Majesty's Coastguard.
Operational team members undergo regular online and live safety training.
A spokesperson for BMRT said: "On arrival, the team members were given a detailed safety briefing and an explanation of the protocols used when working with HM Coastguard helicopters.
"This includes the use of a hi-line - a length of rope used to control the ascent and descent of equipment bags or a stretcher and winchman, and prevent spinning which left unchecked can endanger personnel and the aircraft.
"Following this, team members practised the technique with the helicopter hovering at 40ft above the ground.
"Our thanks go to the crew at HM Coastguard for their warm welcome and very informative training."
