A man has been arrested after officers recovered £50k in cash after stopping a car on the M60 yesterday (Monday October 24).
Following an intelligence-led operation, officers from GMP’s Economic Crime Unit and Money Laundering Team alongside TVIU, the man was arrested on suspicion of possession of criminal property after the cash was found hidden within the car.
The car was stopped northbound close to the junction with the M602.
The man, aged 37, has since been released under investigation.
Temporary Detective Inspector James Coles said: “This was another fantastic seizure for the Operation Falcon team as we look to crackdown on money laundering and ultimately disrupt criminality.
“We have so far seized over £800k since the start of Operation Falcon in June 2022 and we will continue to investigate those that are profiting from criminal gains and reinvest the money back into communities and projects across Greater Manchester.”
Anyone with information about suspicious financial activity can report it to GMP online through their online crime reporting form, or by calling 101.
This can also be reported via the Live Chat service on www.gmp.police.uk.
Details can also be passed anonymously to the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
