POLICE in Bolton are stepping up patrols as the days get darker to stop criminals in their tracks.
Officers have pledged more high high visibility patrols, regular meetings with residents, stamping out anti-social behaviour and increased stop and search powers.
A spokesman said: With the mornings and nights getting darker your Neighbourhood Teams will be working hard to keep you safe on the streets in your local area."
He added: These streets are yours.
"You live here, we police it! We need you to help us make it safer. Continue to report crime via 999 or 101. If you want to keep your name out of it, visit Crimestoppers on how you can pass us information that we will act on."
The pledge is in addition to other operations being conducted by the emergency services during bonfire and Halloween.
