A bus shelter in the centre of Horwich was smashed up by vandals over the weekend.
One of the three panels of glass at the stop near the town’s public hall on Lee Lane was broken on Saturday evening.
A nearby resident was watching television with her son when she heard the disturbance and went to find out what was going on.
She has urged police to take action against those responsible after seeing young people make off from the scene.
She said: “It was on Saturday night.
“There was glass everywhere.
“The youth problem in this town is out of control, it is youths that are doing it.
“Me and my son were watching television at around 8pm.
“There are always kids patrolling about and doing anti-social behaviour."
But the woman added: “I would say in the last two to three months we have seen more police patrol cars.
“I am kind of used to this though I have lived here for the last 42 years.
"It is shops that get done more than the bus stop."
She said the bus shelter was last smashed up eight months ago and a pub in the area had also recently had items thrown through one of its windows.
The bus station, which is also located near a care home, pharmacists and numerous restaurants, remains without glass in the spots nearest to its advertising site.
But the debris has been cleared up from the area.
