Bollywood star Hussnain Lahori is coming to Bolton for an evening of entertainment.

Lahori is a British singer songwriter from an Indo-Pak heritage.

In a decade-long career, he has performed at various venues across the country from Wembley Arena to Oldham Coliseum.

The Bollywood-themed night is all in aid of Bolton mayor Cllr Ahktar Zaman’s charities.

Cllr Zaman said: “It will be a really good evening of entertainment, which raises funds for a good cause.

“Hussnain is quite a big name in Bollywood, and a great singer and performer, which people will be able to really enjoy.

“Bollywood plays a key role in many people’s lives when it comes to entertainment.

“The event gives people the opportunity to see and listen to Bollywood music, so people can share the experience of the culture through music and food.

“I am hoping that this event will bring people together from all backgrounds and celebrate the diversity and community cohesion.”

Cllr Zaman recalled watching Bollywood movies over the years and listening to the music when he was growing up.

Many describe Bollywood as India’s answer to Hollywood.

It has the same glam, glitz and showbiz and is one of the world’s largest film industries, with a current value between £2.5bn and £4bn.

Cllr Zaman added: “The music is something that has been a part of my life over the years.

“And Bollywood has turned into a highly entertaining scene for so many.”

The event will take place on Thursday, November 3 from 6.30pm at The Albert Halls on Victoria Square.

Guests will receive a complimentary welcome drink on arrival, and a delicious buffet provided by Royal Exotic Catering, as well as a live DJ, accompanied by dance, live music, an auction, and a raffle.

Winners of the raffle could be in with a chance to win a signed Bolton Wanderers shirt, the latest Galaxy Fold phone, or even a new iPad.

Tickets are £25 each and are available from the Octagon Theatre box office, online (www.octagonbolton.co.uk), or via phone on 01204 520661.

For further details or enquiries, contact the mayor’s office on 01204 331090 or email mayorsoffice@bolton.gov.uk.

All the proceeds will go to the mayor’s charities, Fortalice, Bolton Hospice, Bolton Wanderers in the Community, and Girlguiding.
