A video shows motorists driving over the recently changed layout of the road on Trinity Street which has been deemed dangerous by some drivers.

The council heeded concerns that were raised to them last week by Diamond Bus last week and has committed to altering the issues in the road.

These promised changes cannot come soon enough for one motorist.

The driver, who wishes to remain anonymous, says he was recently injured when driving on the section of road at the junction with Bradshawgate, which he blames on the new layout.

The video shows that cars are met with a steep drop as they drive through the junction.

He says that he was injured on October 4, when the road had just been resurfaced and notified the council the following day.

Last week Diamond Bus drivers were reported to have been told they were not to drive that way due to some of their vehicles becoming damaged.

One driver for the company said: “You can see the road and watch as vehicles go over and over 20mph cars lift up off the ground. That junction is awful.

"When travelling over you get a sick feeling as you feel like going over hump bridge. It will cause accidents.”

Following communication with the bus operator, Bolton Council announced that they were earmarking the junction for a rethink.

A council spokesperson said at the time: “There is an area of surfacing which is defective and will be replaced during an overnight closure next week.

“In the meantime, there are signs in place warning motorists of an uneven road surface and advising them to slow down.”
