Images have been released of five men police want to speak to after a series of bank card thefts from older and disabled shoppers.

Shoppers between the ages of 66 and 93 have been targeted by thieves across Leigh and Tyldesley between June and October this year.

Police are now investigating and have released CCTV images of five men.

A Greater Manchester Police spokesperson said: “The bank cards were stolen after the offenders distracted elderly and disabled shoppers Leigh and Tyldesley and then used the cards to make several contactless transactions, the maximum transaction being £100.

“The elderly shoppers targeted were aged between 66 and 93 years old.

“The offences occurred between June and October 2022 in various shopping retail parks

“Thankfully no one so far has been physically injured.”

The thefts have so far occurred at various retail parks including Aldi, on King Street, Leigh and Tesco Extra, on the Loom, Leigh.

People have also been targeted at Aldi on Shuttle Street, Tyldesley and Lidl on Parr Bridge, Tyldesley.

GMP have confirmed that their investigation has been ongoing since June 2022 and they have urged anyone with any information to contact officers by calling 0161 856 67054.
