A guided walk along the Manchester, Bolton and Bury Canal will take place this weekend.
The event will go ahead from midday on Sunday and will begin at Rock Hall, located in Moses Gate Country Park in Farnworth.
It will be led by Steven Parker, the founder of the Manchester, Bolton and Bury Canal Society and aims to explore the history of the sites.
He will show historical photographs of the canal at given points including the 1936 breach, Prestolee Aqueduct, Ringley Locks, and riverside paths back to Moses Gate Country Park.
In order to secure a place on the walk this weekend, people are asked to make a minimum donation of £5.
Proceeds obtained from the event will go towards restoring the canal, which is the groups ultimate aim since it was set up in 1987.
The canal is protected from adverse developments which would prevent it from being restored.
