A man has died after being hit by a lorry on the M61 yesterday, Friday.
Police were called to the northbound side of the motorway near Chorley at around 3.45pm following a collision between a HGV and a pedestrian.
Lancashire Police has now confirmed the pedestrian, a man in his 30s, has died.
Officers are supporting his family.
Anyone who saw the incident or has dashcam footage is being urged to contact police.
The motorway was sealed off between junctions 6 at Horwich and 8 at Chorley following the incident.
A Lancashire Police spokesperson said: “We are appealing for witnesses and dashcam footage after a man died in a collision on the M61.
“We were called to the Northbound carriageway of the M61 near to Chorley at around 3.45pm yesterday (Friday, October 14) after reports of a collision between a HGV and a pedestrian in the carriageway.
“The pedestrian, a man in his 30s, sadly died at the scene.
“His family are being supported by specially trained officers.
“Any witnesses should contact 101, quoting the log number 0786 of 14th October or email sciu@lancashire.police.uk.
“There were a number of a vehicles in the area at the time and we are appealing for anybody who saw the incident to contact us.”
