A boxing coach is inspiring young girls to pick sport as a career as well as a hobby.

Sannah Adam from Astley Bridge is not only training to be a solicitor, but also a boxing coach at the Round4Round at Amir Khan Academy project.

The 21-year-old has turned boxing into a career running alongside her career in law and is interested in going into sport law.

Her classes at the academy Round4Round have waiting lists as girls ‘fight for a spot’ onto her female only classes, with the team now thinking of creating another class with Sannah and Bolton's very own Amir Khan calling for a session with coach Sannah.

Sannah said: “I got into a conversation while out shopping about my boxing classes and a 60-year-old woman overheard and took my number because she also wants to join.

“I think sport in Bolton is amazing because I get a lot of girls come to me from out of town and they say they don’t have the opportunity to take a girls only class anywhere else.

“Bolton is breaking the stereotypes of who can play sport.

“None of the girls in my class had been to the gym before this.”

Sannah is creating a hype around her work that has seen her go into schools to do talks on her life and career.

This has inspired young people to think of sport as a career and Sannah says Bolton is the best place to start.

She said: “There’s not just the sport itself in Bolton but there’s things like coaching and also strength and conditioning training is big here, so whoever wants to become an athlete has so much here to help them.”

The boxing coach wants to help young people realise their dream of getting into sport as a career.

Her advice is: “It’s easy to say you want to make a career in sport, but you want to get into what you are passionate about.

“Find what you enjoy and stick to it but realise it might take some years for you to grow with it.”
