A 36-year-old man has been arrested for being in possession of a knife in Bolton Town Centre.
Police officers from Greater Manchester Police chased the man in the town centre after being alerted to him by the CCTV network.
Class A drugs and a knife were found on his person and confiscated before his arrest.
A spokesman for police said: “Officers from #OpOverspill and #DRelief Response have responded to reports of a male with a knife in Bolton Town Centre, alerted to us by the town centre door security/CCTV network.
“Following a short foot chase, the male was detained and found in possession of this knife, as well as a quantity of class A drugs. A 36-year-old male has been arrested.”
Police have been out in Bolton over the weekend during Operation Overspill, which started in May this year to prevent crime.
To date, it has resulted in a total of 103 arrests for offences including assault, robbery, criminal damage, racially aggravated public order, and sexual assault.

Police carried out as many as 94 compliance checks at several locations, which highlighted issues, including irresponsible drink promotions and licensing condition issues.
Officers have also issued 12 dispersal notices to remove people who could potentially cause harm or damage to the public.
