Traffic police are urging motorists to take extra care on the roads after a crash on St Peter's Way this evening.
Officer released a picture of a Tesla badly damaged as a stark warning of the dangers posed by wet conditions.
A spokesman for GMP Traffic said:"Please drive to the conditions, not the limit. The driver of this Tesla on the A666 in Bolton found out the hard way what heavy rain and standing water can do to a vehicle. "Luckily no serious injuries."
The crash happened just after the slip road on St Peter Way, off Bury Old Rd near the old Audi garage.
The police spokesman said: "Well lit area and cats eyes present. "This part however is 40mph and not covered yet by the average speed cameras. They start after the Bradford Street slip road."
The region has experienced heavy rainfall this evening, which is now set to clear with dry conditions forecast this weekend, with a combination of cloud of sunshine.
Temperature are set to reach highs of 14 degrees and lows of eight degrees.
