Plans have been put forward to turn a house into a new children’s home in Bolton.
MB & S Care Ltd has made the application for the property located on Slack Fold Lane in Farnworth.
If approved by Bolton Council the plans would lead to the creation of a spot which would home up to three youngsters with two full time carers staying there overnight.
The proposal would mean a change of use for the building and as a result permission is required for the five bedroom semi detached house.
In making the application MB & S Care Ltd have set out their objectives and what they do as a company.
They said: "We are a family run company with a devotion to assisting young people to nurture their mind, body and soul.
“Our mission is to support young people to live a fulfilled lifestyle and engage in lifelong learning to transition on to positive destinations by providing an environment where young people are listened to, respected and supported.
“We endeavour to ensure that every young person feels a sense of safety and belonging by creating an aura characterised by love and respect.”
The applicants also say there will be no changes to the outside character of the building.
They also cite three papers from the Children’s Care Commissioner which said local authorities were not meeting their responsibilities to provide accommodation to young people in care.
The applicants explain how the home would work.
They say: "The purpose of the home would be to support the children to build their confidence, help them in developing life skills and prepare them for life when they leave the home to fend for themselves.
"This type of support has been found to be most effective in helping these children to have normal lives and not experience problems in later life.
“During the day it is expected that the children would engage in various activities, plus attend a mainstream school.
“In some cases, the children may receive some home schooling but only while they settle in.
“This however is carried out online, with the carer providing the support.
“Home tutors will not visit the site.
“Clearly this is no different in any case from a family choosing to have home tutoring.”
