Five leisure centres across Bolton are offering free activities for the whole family to enjoy during the cost of living crisis as they stage their second Big Open Weekend of 2022.
After the success of the first Big Open Weekend back in March, Bolton Community Leisure (BCL), which runs leisure centres in Horwich, Westhoughton, Farnworth and Leverhulme Park as well as the Sir Jason Kenny Centre, decided to go again with their open weekend, offering a mix of sporting and fitness options at each facility, and all for free!
This weekend, October 8 and 9, Farnworth Leisure Centre, Horwich Leisure Centre, Leverhulme Park Community Leisure Centre, Sir Jason Kenny Centre and Westhoughton Community Leisure Centre will be offering services for free.
The idea behind this years Big Open Weekend is to give families chance to keep fit without having to pay high costs.
Mahendra Patel, Partnership Manager for BCL said: “Offering free sessions is always going to be popular, but with the cost-of-living crisis hitting so many, now’s a great time to take advantage of our Big Open Weekend offering.
"We’ve got free swimming sessions at Horwich, Farnworth, Westhoughton and the Sir Jason Kenny Centre, which are always popular.
"Then you’ve got free fitness in the gym at all of the facilities.
“As well as standard stuff like gym and swim, we’ve got options like short tennis at Horwich, badminton at Westhoughton, a mobile climbing wall and indoor archery target at Leverhulme Park, the list goes on.
“The activities will be a mixture of turn up on the day and bookable sessions, so please check our websites for all details.
"Just look for the Big Open Weekend banner on the home page or click the post on Facebook and get ready to start planning a free weekend of action for you and the family.”
