The resilience of older Bolton women will be celebrated at a UN International Day for Older Persons.

Bolton Ageing Well Partnership is hosting a celebration to mark the day and the contribution older people make to the community, taking place on September 30 from 10am to 3pm in Victoria Square.

International Day for Older Persons is an annual day which is held on October 1 and this year’s theme is ‘resilience and contribution of older women’.

Cllr Susan Baines, Bolton Council’s Executive Cabinet Member for Wellbeing, said: “This event is a great opportunity to celebrate older people and the vital role they play in our communities.

“It is also a chance for older people to come together, meet new people, try something new and access support and information on matters such as pension credit.”

The event will include a hall of fame which will showcase the resilience and contributions made by local older women as nominated by the Bolton community.
