A primary school in Kearsley has been praised again after its latest inspection.
St John’s CE Primary School on Church Road has been recognised with education watchdog Ofsted's second highest overall rating – "good", the same score it achieved during its last inspection in 2017.
Inspectors Louise McArdle and Pippa Jackson Maitland visited the school in June, and found that students feel safe, are happy and new students and their families are made to feel welcome at the institution.
Their report said: “Leaders expect pupils to behave well. Pupils’ conduct embodies the school’s golden rules to be ready, respectful and safe.
"Any pupils who find it difficult to manage their behaviour benefit from the help and support that they receive from adults.
“Pupils are confident that leaders deal with any rare bullying issues swiftly and effectively.
“Pupils enjoy playing and learning together. They are proud of the responsibilities that they are given, such as being prefects and school councillors.
“Children in the early years are well supported to develop independence. The youngest children are kind and helpful. They are quick to lend a hand at tidy-up time.”
The report also noted that pupils are proud to represent the school in tournaments and competitions and they take part in different events to support charitable causes.
But the inspectors said that there were a couple of areas that could be improved though.
In a minority of subjects, the inspectors say, leaders don’t have sufficient expertise to lead well enough.
There are also issue in some subject areas in that the assessments systems are underdeveloped.
Overall, the school is satisfied with the ranking though.
Head teacher Suzanne Howard said: “We would like to take this opportunity to thank all of our parents for their continued support over years.
"St John’s remains a 'good' school and we would like to thank all the children, staff and governors for their hard work and determination in ensuring the best education and outcomes for all of our children.
“It's a privilege to be the head teacher of St John's and to witness just how far the school has come over the last five years, despite a pandemic.
“We are very proud of our achievements and of our forward thinking and nurturing school."
