A young Bolton boxer has had the amazing opportunity to meet one of his lifelong heroes.
Abdul Khan, cousin of former world champion Amir Khan, was thrilled to have met his hero UFC fighter Khabib Nurmagomedov in Birmingham two weeks ago.
The event, An Exclusive Evening With Khabib Nurmagomedov, was hosted by Human Appeal to raise money for Pakistan during a devastating time with floods destroying homes and taking lives.
Guests could listen to a talk from the man himself before a lucky few got to meet and greet the star with a photo opportunity.
Featherweight boxer Abdul, 20, said: “I was buzzing because he’s someone I really look up to and it was amazing to meet him.
“When we got there, he did an hour’s speech and then I saw him at the meet and greet and spoke to him for a little while.
“I told him about myself, that I was a boxer and what I was trying to do and he told me I will get there.
“It was unreal, words can’t describe it because I have looked up to him for a long time.”
Abdul started following the Russian fighter’s career a few years ago and said he thought Khabib was humble and an inspiration.
He now looks forward to his own fight on Friday, October 7 and thanked everyone for the support.
