Dear Style Rehab
I really want to invest in a good mac. Where can I get one. I'm not fussy about the colour, I just need one which will repel the rain yet keep me warm.
Kerry, Horwich
Drip drip drop, little April showers. I feel your pain.
The rain can play havoc with your winter coat wardrobe, fluffy jackets are out. A good mac is all you will need to keep to dry as you battle the wet.
If you want to go for neutral then there is plenty to choose from. This one from Next is £65 has oh so hip flattering pockets on the front, just don't fill them, perfect for keeping your hands warm. The cuff detail keeps the style traditional and the off white colour, not great if you're planning on rolling in the mud, is so cool you won't even notice the storms. The single breast design is perfect if you are of a larger frame.
If you are of a smaller size then go for double breasted like this one from Betty Jackson Black at Debenhams for £75.
The nipped in cuffs add pretty deatil and the oversized lapel will give you much needed definition on top.
With a traditional beige colour you will be more inclined to wear it than a white version.
Ok so not completely practical, being pink and satin but I couldn't resist this next offering from Wallis at £85.
The cinched in waist will add extra definition and again the traditional cuff detail is pretty masculine tailoring. The vertical pockets bring it right into the 21st Century, and the dainty satin barely-there buttons make it delicate yet practical, you don't want your mac blowing in the breeze.
If you fancy sticking to black then why not hot foot it to Dorothy Perkins for affordable glamour.
This mac has all the traditional traits of an ordinary mac, the cuffs and the pockets, but it has an extra wide belt for added protection.
Being double breasted, it would suit skinny girls or those with larger frames. At £50 it's also the cheapest of the lot without compromising on style.
The large buttons give it a 60s feel and the unusual fabric will certainly turn heads.
So don't hide away as soon as it showers, wrap up and face the rain clouds in style.
