A boxing project has teamed up with Amir Khan for new initiative to give back to their hometown.
The retired boxer met Mayor of Manchester Andy Burnham with director of the new boxing programme Round4Round, Nasir Akram.
Round4Round will operate out of the Amir Khan Academy and offer multiple boxing classes including for girls and children.
The team hope to tackle knife crime and educate youth through workshops as well as host spaces for elite boxers to train.
Nasir said: “Round4Round have entered Bolton and understand the need for boxing classes and social education.
“We want to get kids off the street and reduce knife crime in Bolton as well as getting more young people into sport.”
"We want to raise awareness of this great facility throughout Bolton and beyond."
The academy has a classroom which will be used for educational courses including on knife crime with the establishment being gifted 50 laptops to help put their plans into action.
The gym also has a parent viewing gallery, an sports physio room and an Amir Khan memrobillia section.
Popular boxing coach Joe Gallagher also continues to use the gym for his team of elite boxers including world champion Mark Heffron.
Other boxers attending the gym include Amir Khan’s cousin Abdul Khan as well as rising star Ali Akbar Javid.
Nasir said: “We want to work with the community and make it a diverse place where anyone can come to.
“We’re also helping kids with special needs."
“We have started to grow in Bolton, and head coach Ash is set to make difference to the town.”
Ashif Ashik is the head coach at Round4Round and has trained with Amir Khan and elite boxers like Cindy Ngamba.
He said: “It's going well, the partnership between Round4Round and Amir khan is not only boxing, but health, fitness and mental well-being.
“We are here to create a true health, fitness and media hub that is accessible to all.
“Our timetable and roster of coaches and trainers is growing by the week."
The project is aiming to make the classes affordable to everyone in Bolton.
Boxing coaches include Sannah Adam, Claire Council, Mike Khan, Nilufar Patel and Shanaz Ullah.
Over the last few months, the project has had people travelling from as far as Leeds and Doncaster.
