Film crews have been spotted at work in the borough yet again, working on a new series of acclaimed comedy Brassic.
The new series, the comedy’s fourth outing, hit our screens this week and viewers from Bolton may well notice some familiar looking backdrops.
Crews were seen on Higher Market Street, Kearsley, with the familiar car park transformed into a film set by lights, cameras and of course the hit TV series’ stars.
One Kearsley’s Cllr Paul Heslop said: “It follows up from something else we that was being filmed recently, we had a footie film being shot in Stoneclough.
“We’ve also had Coronation Street filming here, I think they used to film weddings on Corrie nearby so we’ve been used quite a lot in recent times.
“We’ve got a history of filming here now and we’re just thinking that maybe a few more of the proceeds could be kept local.”
He added: “I never see these things, I haven’t had a television in nearly 30 years, 1994 was the last time I had one!
“But it’s a good thing to see more filming around Bolton, we’d just like the proceeds to be spread out a bit more.”
Cllr Heslop says he was amazed by the work the production crews had done, particularly the work on restoring a pizza shop on the road that had been there three years ago which was so convincing that at first he though it had reopened.
Photographs taken by Cllr Heslop show how Higher Market Street has made the ideal backdrop for the series, which follows the lives of Vinnie O'Neill, played by Chorley actor Joe Gilgun, and his friends including Michelle Keegan’s Erin in the fictional North West town of Hawley.
Filming for the series has also taken place at Le Mans Crescent and in Bromley Cross.
