LEIGH look resigned to life in the Unibond Premier Division next season after crashing to defeat against fellow-relegation strugglers Hinckley.
With nine games remaining it is still mathematically possible for the Railwaymen to bridge the 10-point gap to safety but, with one win in just 13 games, their form hardly suggests they are capable of a great escape.
Bradley Maylett's first RMI goal proved to be only a consolation strike on a miserable afternoon for Steve Bleasdale's team.
Leigh fell behind within 10 minutes of the second half when Tom Birch touched the ball home from a floated free kick.
Seven minutes later centre back Rob Marsh-Evans brought down striker Leon Kelly just inside the penalty area and Adam Webster scored from the spot.
With 15 minutes remaining Richard Mottram was again caught out by an inswinging cross and Webster diverted home Callum Lloyd's cross.
RMI pulled a goal back with 10 minutes remaining when substitute Maylett rammed home Mark Smyth's cross.
