An information and support service in Bolton is calling for volunteers to help patients, carers and families affected by cancer.

Macmillan’s Cancer Information and Support Service are asking for people to come forward and volunteer as the service has grown.

The service is co-produced and has four strategic partners Macmillan, Bolton Hospice, Bolton People Affected by Cancer and NHS Greater Manchester Integrated Care and these work together to deliver a cancer information and support service to residents.

The service also works closely with NHS Bolton Foundation Trust and the council.

Over the last eight years, the service has grown and now needs to recruit more volunteers to join the existing team of fantastic volunteers.

The service is delivered over three sites in Bolton and provides information, advice and support to people affected by cancer, including benefits advice.

The Macmillan Centre at Royal Bolton Hospital is the one looking for volunteers.

Four sessions available include Monday 10am to 1pm, Tuesday 1pm to 4pm and Friday 10am to 1pm, and 1pm to 4pm.

The role will include keeping information and leaflets well stocked, promoting the service, ensuring the centres are welcoming and supportive, and providing a listening ear.

Volunteers will need to have good communication skills and basic administration experience would also be beneficial.

Full training is provided and is done over two days.

If you would like to volunteer, contact the hospital or The Macmillan Centre at Royal Bolton Hospital.
