Bolton South East MP Yasmin Qureshi has joined Bolton at Home in a campaign to celebrate supported housing and the positive impact it has across the country.

The Labour politician visited Lever Gardens alongside directors from the social housing provider at the "Starts at Home Day".

The visit was part of a wider National Housing Federation campaign, which culminated in a day of action on Friday, September 2.

These supported housing units provide accommodation for vulnerable people in society, such as the elderly, those with disabilities, victims and survivors of domestic abuse, and those who have experienced homelessness.

The units also support people’s wellbeing and mental health, while also reducing pressures on the NHS and social care.

Ms Qureshi said: "I’d like to extend my thanks to Bolton at Home for the invite to see the work on their Lever Gardens site, and see first hand the work they are doing to support so many.

"As an anchor institution in Bolton’s local economy, Bolton at Home play a vital role in our local ecosystem – providing people with affordable social housing, developing new sites, and retrofitting older properties for the future.

"These supported housing units specifically provide an additional level of support to some of the most vulnerable people in our Bolton community.”
