A domestic abuse charity is calling on businesses in Bolton and Bury to host a ‘blue and purple day’ to help raise funds and awareness for their 45th anniversary.
The ‘Wear it Proud’ campaign will take place between September 12- 18.
Launched by Fortalice, Bolton-based domestic abuse charity, businesses can put their own spin on the theme.
Some suggestions from the charity include a dress down day, wearing the colours blue and purple, a themed bake sale or a raffle.
Wear it Proud aims to raise awareness of domestic abuse while raising vital funds as part of Fortalice’s 45th anniversary celebrations.
Gill Smallwood, chief executive of the charity, said: “We’d love for local businesses, organisations or community groups to help us raise awareness in the community so that further victims come forward.
“Raising vital funds will help us continue to rebuild lives.”
Fortalice provides diverse frontline services for adults, families, and children and young people that have been affected by domestic abuse, including a refuge with 22 self-contained flats.
Additional services at their Outreach Support Centre include one-to-one advice and guidance, group work, counselling, and a dedicated children and young people’s service.
They also offer accredited training for professionals and provide educational deliveries to schools across the borough.
“Last year, we supported more than 300 children in the community alone and the demand for our services unfortunately continues to grow,” Gill added.
“This year, we have significant shortfall in funds due to a number of our services that are unfunded, combined with the increase in cost of living.
“We need the help of individuals and companies more than ever.”
Grace Wood, fundraising manager, said: “Thank you to everyone who has signed up so far, there has been some brilliant ideas coming through already.
“It isn’t too late to get involved if you are able to, no matter how big or small your fundraiser is.
“Together we will be raising awareness of domestic abuse and vital funds to help keep our victims safe. Thank you.”
To register email fundraising@fortalice.co.uk who will provide a full fundraising pack which includes bunting, games, how to create a fundraising page and a sponsorship form to gather those vital funds.
