A furniture store is looking for a restaurant to use the space in their showroom.
Global Interiors on Blackburn Road in Astley Bridge is known to renting out its store space to other businesses with Italian diner Dolce holding the space in 2014.
After Poppy’s Tea Room finished its short-term pop-up at the site a month ago, Global’s owner Donna Burrell is now looking for the next big restaurant to fill it.
A bridal shop called Ivy Promise and She Boutique are already situated in the store and often see customers dining at the restaurants open within the space.
Donna said: “I initially wasn’t thinking of inviting another restaurant into the space because my thoughts were that businesses might struggle due to costs.
“The kitchen is run off electric so it can be quite expensive.”
But the landlord insisted Donna offer the space to a restaurant as they could run longer hours than the furniture store and would get ample business from the store’s already large following.
Donna said: “The building is made of glass so there is massive visibility out on the street, the car park is free, and we already have three successful businesses operating here.
“We’re fully licensed and there are fixtures and fittings that they could buy or get rid of and make their own.
“Ivy Promise will have bridal squads that will come in and when they are fitted, they want to go and celebrate.”

After Dolce moved out, another Italian restaurant, Salocco, opened before the first lockdown, ultimately choosing to leave due to the constant restrictions of the pandemic.
More recently, the space was used by Donna’s own friend Suzanne Halliwell with the Poppy’s Tea Room pop-up.
Global Interior had hoped it would stay until September, but the pop-up had to leave early due to Suzanne’s other commitments, including running The Sunnyhurst pub in Darwen.
But the tearoom drummed up a lot of support while there and it is hoped whoever takes over should get the footfall of the other businesses as well as their own.
Donna said: “We’re looking for the right restaurant and If we don’t find one, it’ll just be transformed into another showroom, so either way it’s exciting for us.”
