GCSE superstars say Bolton School prepared them well

Two friends from Bolton School who achieved excellent GCSE results say that their school prepared them well for their exams.

Ben Rimmer and Levi Higham are heading towards their A-levels and beyond to university following impressive GCSE results.

Ben achieved a staggering eleven 9s, one 8 and an A* , while Levi’s efforts yielded him an impressive four 9s, five 8s, one 7 and one A*.

Ben said: “I’ve done very well. I’m very happy.

“It’s a really nice moment. It’s all come together now, what we’ve been doing for the last five years.”

Levi agreed, saying: “It’s good that it’s finally managed to end this way, all in person after a lot of our course being disrupted.”

Both are thankful to their school, particularly for the provisions they put on in the build up to the exams, which they say prepared them in the best way possible for their successes.

Levi, who is also a talented saxophonist, said: “I think the mocks were really good in trying to make it realistic so we knew what to expect and knew what getting results would be like.”

Ben echoed his classmate’s sentiments, saying: “We had mocks in February so it wasn’t that long since we have a very similar experience it just wasn’t the same formal qualifications, so it didn’t feel as daunting as it might.

“We were prepared so well, the only pressure I really felt was from myself.”

The pair embark on their A-level courses in September. Levi will be studying history, politics and Latin, whereas Ben’s courses will be in maths, physics, French and Russian.

Both plan to compound those studies by going to university, however both are still a little unclear as to the path they want to take.

Levi said: “I’ll probably study something like history or politics at university and see where that takes me.”

“I think I’ll see what I enjoy at A-level most before making a decision,” Ben added.
