A landmark challenge to make and repeat history took place today as more than 100 people went to a country park to recreate a picture from 1906.
The Save Rock Hall Landmark challenge by charity Banana Enterprise Network was a success today as the weather stayed bright and 143 people went to Moses Gate to recreate a postcard image created more than 100 years ago.
Charity CEO Jayne Allman said she cannot thank everyone enough for their support today and she hopes the National Lottery Heritage Fund says yes to their bid in September.
Jayne said: "The Rock Hall Landmark Challenge was completed just after 2pm today at Moses Gate Country Park.
"Thank you so much to everyone who took part.
"It was an amazing experience.
"We hope the National Lottery Heritage Fund will say YES in September to our Charity's £4million funding bid to Save Rock Hall on behalf of the community.
"Everyone who came today, helped us to make history and sent a positive message to the Lottery.
"Thank you so much to each and every one of you for taking the time to do the challenge and help us to form the words "Save Rock Hall" using our bodies.
"Thanks to the amazing Sam Picton, our professional film maker and drone operator from What Media, for taking this super photograph.
"Thanks also go to the 4th Farnworth (All Saints) Scout Group for helping us today and thank you to our wonderful volunteers and Trustees for helping us to set up and get everyone into position.
"It was a lovely atmosphere and lovely sunny weather."
During Rock Hall and Farnworth-related research work, the charity Banana Enterprise was lucky to obtain a real photo postcard.
The picture was taken in 1906, where 300 people from Farnworth and Kearsley Parish Church went to Ilfracombe in Devon.
They gathered together on a hillside called Capstone Hill and formed the word “Devon”.
It was photographed and a real photo postcard was made of the event.
To show support for the Save Rock Hall project, the charity decided to create a similar memorable event, 116 years later - and it has been a huge success.
