Penguin cuts off Meal Prep King after misogynistic rant

John Clark, whose book The Meal Prep King was a Sunday Times Bestseller, repeatedly referred to women as "scruffy" with expletive language, and body shaming to individuals during an Instagram Live on Monday, according to clips being shared around various platforms.

Penguin has since dropped the author stating they do not agree with his behaviour and will not be working with him again in the future.

The meal-planning influencer, who shows people how to achieve permanent weight loss, shared two live videos on his Instagram account on Monday evening, August 15, which appeared to show him insulting some of the viewers before going on a rant about women.

In the first video, it shows Mr Clark slandering women after he was told to show some respect by one of his viewers.

He responded by saying: "Nope, you're all f***ing scruffy c***s. I do like kinda p***ing women off. 'I'm a woman, I'm a female, and I have rights' shut the f*** up you f***ing scruffy c***."

He then made a spitting motion directed out of shot.

In the second video shared on the same account Mr Clark used offensive language to demean people with learning difficulties.

During the video he said he made more money than all of his followers.

He said: "I make more money in one minute than all you people."

Mr Clark also body shamed individuals stating he gets messages from people looking to lose weight.

He said: "I love getting messages off fat people, because I always say how much do you weigh? 'Well I weigh I think about 15 stone', how tall are you? 'I'm five foot', really? so you're a f***ing mammoth and you want to blame everybody else."

Viewers of the live videos on Instagram tagged Penguin Michael Joseph, the publishers who have brought out both of Mr Clark's books.

They also tagged Eatlean, a compnay who has partnered with Mr Clark, as the author was wearing one of their t-shirts during his rant.

Both Penguin and Eatlean have released statements in reponse to Mr Clark's video rants stating they will no longer be working with him.

A spokesperson for Penguin Michael Joseph said: "Penguin Michael Joseph is appalled by John Clark’s unacceptable behaviour.

"We do not have any more books under contract with John and will not be working with him in future."

In a statement on their Twitter, Eatlean said: "We'd like to make it known to our Eatlean community that we are aware of the offensive actions that have taken place on an unrelated Instagram account today.

"It's important that we strongly express our zero-tolerance stance on offensive messaging of any kind.

"We are no longer involved or affiliated with the individual.

"We as a brand will continue to stand firm on this.

"Thank you to our community for uniting once again to help stamp out any offensive and abusive behaviour, we unite with you on this."

Mr Clark was contacted for comment by The Bolton News but did not respond before publication.
