Hole in Plantation Road, Edgworth, 1964 after two days of downpours
TWO days of torrential rain caused this massive hole to appear on Plantation Road, Edgworth, in 1964, after a culvert under the road was washed away.
Around three inches of rain had fallen during a 36-hour period.
Two local youths, Malcolm Cooper and Ronnie Edwards, had a lucky escape when their scooter plunged into the hole but they climbed out uninjured although their scooter was a write-off
