Bolton is in the top 10 in the country its driving test pass record.

New data by Bill Plant Driving School showed Bolton was rated seventh with a 61.4 per cent male driving test pass rate and a 53.1 per cent female driving test pass rate.

Overall, Bolton has a 57.4 per cent pass rate compared to Durham which was rated as the best area for passing driving tests with a pass rate of 63.4 per cent.

Tony Pearson, a driving instructor in Bolton, said: "At Bolton the instructors and examiners have been working hard over many years to improve the standard of driving on the roads in Bolton.

"By working closely together we believe that this has only improved the understanding and skills needed to drive on the roads in Bolton.

"In our Association of Driving Instructors (AUDI) we pride ourselves in keeping all our members up to date with all the latest information which keeps us up to the highest standard possible, we also do have an excellent set of examiners at Bolton Driving Test centre."

Bolton also came in twentieth for the UK area with the least road accidents.

In 2020, there was a total of 11 motorway accidents, 143 A road accidents, 136 minor accidents and 290 accidents altogether.

Bolton's roads are twice as deadly as Salford and Bury

Aberdeen came in first with 70 accidents altogether making it the Uk area with the least amount of road accidents.

Research revealed there are 99 approved driving instructors per 100,000 people, 19,064 provisional licence holders per 100,000 people and there have been 290 road accidents across the city.
