Bolton Wanderers unveiled its new fan zone to praise from match-goers on Saturday.
The Wanderers opened the 1,000-capacity fan zone as the team prepared for its match against Wycombe Wanderers.
The facility, situated outside the University of Bolton Stadium, is a place for fans to get together, pre- and post-match, in a ‘relaxed and friendly environment’.
It was packed with fans enjoying food and drink from a variety of stalls, with many watching the Fulham vs Liverpool match broadcast live on the big screen or listening to live music.
The zone was met with enthusiasm from fans, including husband and wife Daniel Coward, 39, and Gemma Coward, 38.
Daniel said: “Obviously, you can see what it’s like, it’s packed, I think it’s dead good, I think the layout is dead nice.
“I think it has a family feel, like in the middle at the front with all the guys [watching the Fulham vs Liverpool watch]."
He added: “It’s a nice touch to show where Bolton have come from, from almost disappearing, to where they’re going.”
Fellow Wanderers fans John and Janet Beech travelled from Shropshire for the match.
John, 81, has been a Wanderers fan for 75 years and both he and Janet loved the new fan zone.
They said: “It’s really nice, we’ve enjoyed the music and the entertainment as well.”
The couple said they would be showing off to their grandchildren about the club’s new facilities.
Janet Mills, another Wanderers fan also praised the new outdoor space for its community and family feel.
She said: “It’s absolutely amazing really, and you’ve got the community together and it’s just a great family day out.
“There’s nice weather, let's just hope we win and that will make the day, it’s absolutely wonderful.”
The excitement from the new fan zone went onto continue as Bolton beat Wycombe 3-0.
The new fan zone will open three hours prior to kick off, from 12pm to 3pm, and an hour after the final whistle on Saturdays from 5pm to 6pm.
For midweek games, the fan zone will be open from 5pm and close at 7.45pm, when matches kick off.
The fan zone is an ongoing project and will continue to be enhanced over the coming months.
