A young boy has suffered a fractured skull after falling off his bike into a passing truck.
The incident took place on Hindley Road in Westhoughton at around 12pm Wednesday.
Police taped off an area of the road for several hours due to the incident, with the cordon being lifted just before 5pm.
The young boy had been riding his bike on the road, when he fell off the bike and into the side of a passing truck, sustaining a fractured skull in the process.
A spokesperson from Greater Manchester Police said: "We received the call to Hindley Road at around 12.30pm on Wednesday, August 3.
"A boy fell off his bike into the side of a passing truck.
"He sustained a fractured skull. He was taken to hospital and is receiving treatment."
A spokesperson for North West Ambulance Service said: “We were called at 12.10pm to reports regarding a pushbike and a wagon.
“We sent a rapid response vehicle, ambulance and air ambulance.
“We took one patient, a young male, to hospital with a head injury via road ambulance.”
