Drivers have been warned to expect delays on a major road after an accident.
A set of temporary traffic lights have been installed on Rochdale Road, Bury at around Midday on Saturday afternoon, while officers are on the scene.
As a result, congestion has built up on the road causing delays throughout the area, while buses are being diverted.
A statement from Transport for Greater Manchester said: Congestion Rochdale Road, Bury traveling into Bury.
“This is due to temporary traffic signals and an on-going police incident in the area.
“Please take alternative route where possible Local bus services are using diverted route.”
As yet, police have not issued further updates as to the nature of the accident.
But transport companies in the are said that it appeared that the scene was being cleared early in the afternoon.
A statement from Diamond Buses North West said: “Due to an accident on Rochdale Road in Bury there are long delays in the area affecting traffic and our 471 and 163 services.
“However it looks like the accident is being cleared.”
Road users have been advised to regularly check Transport for Greater Manchester’s social media feeds for updates about Rochdale Road.
Anyone who witnesses a road accident is urged to call 999 immediately.
