Pictures have emerged of police at the scene of an incident yesterday regarding a weapon.
The images show armed officers patrolling Shephard Cross Street which was closed after reports someone had a weapon in the area yesterday morning.
Another picture showed the specialist officers, who had arrived at 8.30am, and were speaking to people on the street about what they saw before detaining a man.
An ambulance car, ambulance van and four police vans and cars were in attendance at the time.
As of midday, the ambulances, two police cars and one police van were still in attendance at the street and enquiries are ongoing.
Nobody was injured but a man was detained at the scene.
It is unclear if a weapon was found but police had blocked the street and were talking to a man they had detained.
A spokesman for police said: “We were called shortly after 8.30am today to a report of a disturbance on Shepherd Cross Street, Bolton.
“Officers attended and a man in his 20s was detained.
“A search of an address was carried out by specialist officers after a suggestion that a weapon was possibly sighted at the scene.
“No one is believed, at this time, to have been injured.”
One neighbour was woken up by the loud banging this morning.
She said: “I was asleep and I think the whole street was woken up by the banging.
“I heard shouting and there were police with guns outside.
“I heard them shout for someone to step outside and then they detained someone.
“It’s a little shocking but things are always happening here although none of us really know what’s happened, we’ve just come outside our houses after hearing all the commotion this morning.”
