Owners of a local petrol station are looking to bring the cheapest fuel prices in the country to the area to give back to their local community.
Limes Service Station on Manchester Road in Walkden will be significantly lowering fuel prices today (Thursday, July 14).
Co-director Hassan Mohammed, aged 30 from Astley Bridge, said: “It will be starting at 9am on the dot.
“We’re looking to be the cheapest people in the country by a big margin, as you can imagine we’re putting a lot into this.”
The significant reduction in price will be revealed today.
He paid tribute to the people of Walken, having spent seven years working in the area.
He said: “We have been trading in Walkden for seven years now, and the people of Walkden are the loveliest people you’ll ever meet.
“They’re hardworking individuals who build them up themselves.”
This comes as the cost-of-living crisis continually hits the wallets of the UK.
Hassan said: “We want to give back to the community and help with the cost-of-living situation in the UK today.
“We are hoping to try and maintain it for as long as we can because we are basically putting a lot of investment into this.
“My father has been in the fuel industry for over 35 years and it’s always been around Greater Manchester.
“I’ve been involved for 15 years and we’ve both been codirectors at the station for seven years - it’s a full family business.”
