Young bakers raised more than £200 to help people affected by the war in Ukraine.
The year 12 pupils at Bolton School raised a total of £226.15 with a bake sale in aid of UNICEF’s Ukraine appeal.
This means that the school’s girls division has now broken records and raised a total of more than £20,000 so far this year.
A school spokesman said: “A group of Year 12 students in the Girls’ Division held a bake sale in support of UNICEF’s Ukraine appeal.
“They sold a variety of cakes at break and lunchtime to the rest of the school and raised an impressive £226.15.
“This pushed the amount of money raised for charity in the Girls’ Division this year to £20,003.29
“Not only is this an outstanding total, but it also broke the school’s previous record of charity contributions in a single academic year.”
This marks another example of a huge outpouring of support for the people of Ukraine from across Bolton, which is home to a historic Ukrainian community, in recent months.
The town has also seen a number of rallies held in support of the war torn Eastern European nation.
