Staff and patients at Royal Bolton Hospital have celebrated the NHS’s birthday their biggest ever "Big Tea" event.
This comes after the 74th anniversary of the NHS’s founding this week, with 600 Bolton in-patients enjoying cakes and tea alongside healthcare staff.
The event was organised by Our Bolton NHS Charity and has helped to raise funds.
Manager Sarah Skinner said: “It was such a special day to be a part of, thank you to everyone who has been a part of it.
“Whether you organised an event, took part in one or made a text donation, your support is vital and very much appreciated.
“The money raised will contribute towards our The Small Things fundraiser, allowing us to invest the money where it really makes a big difference to the lives our patients.”
The event was an opportunity to thank NHS staff for the work they do
The "Big Tea" was also an opportunity to thank staff, with paediatric services business support manager Caroline Ellis one of those honoured.
She said: “I’m really lucky to be part of such an inspiring team.
“I’m so excited about all the plans we have to transform and update our services for patients and families.”
People can support the charity by registering for an event online at nhsbigtea.co.uk or by texting YUM3 to 70580 to donate £3.
